Fred Petrie started Motion Engineering, Inc. in 1991 after he became a Hauck Burner Sales Representative. He saw the need aggregate producers had to find experienced service teams that could assist them with routine maintenance, repairs, breakdowns, and specialty projects.
Over the last four decades, Motion Engineering, Inc. has developed into a multifaceted organization that does everything from service equipment, sell new and used parts/equipment and consult on both small and large Asphalt Plant projects.

Michael Petrie – President
Michael Petrie, President of Motion Engineering, Inc. worked in his early years as a maintenance technician for Motion Engineering and graduated from University of Milwaukee with a degree in Political Science. Thereafter, he went into a 4-year Apprenticeship with the Operators Union to be a Plant Foreman. He worked as an Asphalt Plant Operator for 7 years for both Stark and the Walbec Group before joining Motion Engineering and taking the role of President in 2019.
Meet The Team
Sara Petrie, Vice President
Sara Petrie graduated from Winona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. She started her career in outside sales and worked for 7 years in various industries b2b, logistics, pharmaceutical, and medical devices. During her sales career, she also obtained a Master of Science degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University. After her career in sales, she switched gears moving into Healthcare Operations. She worked for 7 years at Healgocis™, a national Healthcare Management company in roles as both a Director and Area Vice President before moving into the role of Vice President of Motion Engineering in January 2020.
Lee Ann Lorrigan, Senior Sales Consultant
Lee Ann graduated from Marian University with a Quality Productive Management Degree and has 30 years of experience in manufacturing and health care sales and project management. Now living in Mountain, WI she enjoys being a volunteer Fire Fighter and is a member of the Community Wildfire Prevention Plan for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in her free time.
Nicholas Bertrang, Manager-Service Division
Nick worked his early years in the oil field industry, pipelines, compressor stations and rock crushing plants. From there he progressed into large sand mines and the fracking industry. Nick has worked in various roles throughout his career doing everything from custom fabrication, pipe work, hauling, equipment operation, trucking logistics, and managing large teams of skilled welders. He has a Class A CDL and is certified in: GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and FCAW; mig, tig, stick and flux core welding. Nick joined Motion Engineering in early 2019 as a service technician and was promoted to the lead service division manager in 2021.
Brian Johnson, Parts Specialist
Brian Johnson started his career out of high school working for various industrial distributor companies and worked his way up from customer service roles to senior sales specialist roles prior to joining Motion Engineering in 2022. His vast knowledge of industrial parts/distribution has assisted Motion Engineering in expanding our parts division.
